Contact

The client fills out a Design Lab Project Request Form (accessible from our website) and submits the form to the faculty sponsor. The professor will then assign the project to one of the teams and give the Project Request Form to the Senior Art Director to make contact with the client.

1

Initial Client Meeting

This is the first meeting where the client comes in to meet with the team and explain the project. This is a crucial step as the team asks questions and figures out the concept that will give the client exactly what they need.

2

Concept Development

At this stage, the team works on visual research and takes advantage of problem solving skills such as mind-mapping and matrixes. At the end of this stage, each team member has several sketches of concepts for the project.

3

Midway Meeting

After sketches are narrowed down the best concepts,  teams will schedule a second meeting with the client to look at the sketches and give feedback about the directions of the designs, guiding the team to adjust to the client’s preference.

4

Mock-Ups

Once each team member has selected a concept to move forward with, the designs are created on the computer. Photographs are taken, vectors are created, and collages are cut. Design Lab teams try to have each member take a different approach to the design solution in order to give the client a variety of stylistic options.

5

Class Critique

At this point, the team members share their concepts with the other teams in Design Lab and get feedback from all members and the faculty sponsor.

6

Refinement

After receiving feedback, the team members will make revisions to the designs and bring them to completion.

7

Final Client Meeting

The Senior Art Director will contact the client and arrange a meeting for the client to make their selection. Final designs are presented and the client selects the one that he or she believes will work best for the project. After the selection is made, the designer will bring a printed proof to the client to approve. After approval is made from the client, faculty sponsor, and Senior Art Director, the designer gets the posters printed and delivers them for the event.
